L\u2019opera della \u201cVia Misericordiae\u201d, realizzata nel 2009 per un concorso artistico, \u00e8 stata rielaborata nel 2016 per il Santuario della Madonna dell\u2019Elemosina di Biancavilla. Infatti, accanto alle rappresentazioni dei vari momenti della passione di Cristo, \u00e8 presente in ogni stazione la figura della Vergine Maria che accompagna il cammino del Figlio, associata al suo dolore.<\/p>\n

\u201cLa via dolorosa di Ges\u00f9 \u00e8 la pi\u00f9 importante scuola di Misericordia \u2013 spiega il prevosto Pino Salerno \u2013 e pertanto, a conclusione del Giubileo della Misericordia (2016), abbiamo scelto di lasciare nella Basilica biancavillese quest\u2019opera cos\u00ec significativa, di grande valore teologico, spirituale ed artistico.\u00a0Maria, che ha seguito il viaggio al Calvario del Figlio continua ad accompagnare il cammino di ogni uomo e di ogni donna del nostro tempo. Il nostro pellegrinaggio terreno \u00e8 sostenuto e incoraggiato dalla misericordia di Ges\u00f9 e di Maria. Con quest\u2019opera, mi auguro con tutto il cuore che quanti entreranno in Santuario, possano fare esperienza di questa splendida verit\u00e0 di fede.\u00a0Ringrazio il M\u00b0 Dino Cunsolo che con la sua opera impreziosisce lo scrigno d\u2019arte che \u00e8 la nostra Basilica, e ringrazio i benefattori che hanno contribuito a questo progetto.<\/p>\n

Oltre ai gruppi statuari delle 14 stazioni, il M\u00b0 Cunsolo ha realizzato il tuttotondo del Cristo Risorto (15ma stazione), collocato all\u2019interno del tempietto dell\u2019altare del SS. Sacramento. Il progetto per l\u2019allestimento delle edicole espositive della Via Misericordiae \u00e8 stato curato dal M\u00b0 Giuseppe Santangelo.<\/p>\n

Cunsolo, biancavillese d\u2019origine, classe 1944, ha lavorato per l\u2019adeguamento liturgico della Basilica Metropolitana di Catania e per conto di diversi enti e diocesi Italiane, realizzando sculture e mostre prestigiose. Da ultimo, ha esposto alcuni suoi lavori sulle opere di misericordia, nella chiesa di S. Silvestro al Quirinale in Roma. \u00c8 considerato uno tra i pi\u00f9 insigni scultori dell\u2019arte contemporanea.<\/p>\n
